Anyone know what's going on here? 2 pics in a dark tank; 1 with lights on. Started out as white indents; white indents turned into holes; holes turned into ditches. Could it be splitting? This is a mature coral (plate sized all extended) that a grew from my first CVRC auction purchase.

Could be a few things: that area is getting ready to separate from the main colony. Or a bacterial infection, or something could be taking bites out of it.

Ron: This is the coral I was asking if you'd help me frag. Do you think it's a good idea to go ahead and do this before whatever this is progresses any further?

No, I think it is going to have a baby devil. I would let it have a natural birth.

It does look like it is chocking one of the fingers off in the last couple of days.

yep let it go on it's own, it should be just fine.

The devils hand that i sold in the first auctions (looks like what you have) split the exact same way. I wouldnt not worry about it. It will most likely drop off a 'frag' for you as others have said.
