Diablo Protein Skimmer

Does anybody know of any modifications to quiet this monster? The noise is coming form the air intake.

I placed a piece of cotton inside the "muffler" to dampen the sound of the air intake.
Whenever I clean out my skimmer cup, I replace the cotton.
It doesn't seam to affect the performance of the skimmer at all.

Good information, I have the DC-300INT on order.

I will definitely do that. It is driving me insane! What if the muffler cup where longer? I was thinking of replacing it with a capped pvc pipe, drilling a vent hole on the cap, and drilling a tubing entry hole high up on the pipe. Does anybody who if this would reduce the noise?

Put a piece of tape over one of the holes. It cut mine down a ton with no performance issues.

I placed a piece of tape over one side and stuffed it with cotton balls. It is relatively quiet now. Thanks everybody!!!!
