Diamond Goby Bruised Face

Something is wrong with my Goby, no idea what. The bruise appeared over night like he smashed his fash against the tank wall. He is not eating or sifting sand anymore, it has been 2 days. The bruises are on both sides of face nearly symetrical and a little on his forhead. I have found reference on the net to a yellow Goby with the same condition but that person was clueless also. i have the exact same problem, i think he swallowed a piece of crushed coral, what ended up happenind with yours?

my diamond goby passed away last week after two months, he was my second, my first was around for about 8 months. Both had similar "bruises" on their faces before passing away. What I believe this to be is a problem with the substrate. I have crushed coral mixed with fine sand and there are some pretty heft chucks of coral/sea shells ect. Both of my gobies just stopped eating. became lethargic, then died of starvation after becoming extremely skinny. I did everything I could to feed them, and care for them. This LFS had no interest in helping either.
