Diatoms

What is the best way to get rid of diatoms? Just upgraded from 29 gal to about 65 so I thought it could be a mini cycle. It's been running for 3 weeks and they just started in the sand bed. I tested nitrates and they're at zero so I don't know what's going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can't put pictures on here from my phone and I don't have a computer but it is a brownish stringy spider web looking film over my sand bed.

That's pretty typical. Nothing to worry about. It should start going away in the next couple of weeks.

Ok cool. I had them in my last tank at first too. So are they just part of the mini cycle?

Pretty much. Doesn't harm anything just growing pains of a tank

From what I understand they feed on silica in your tank. Over time that will decrease and they will go away.
