Are these brown patches on my sand diatoms? What are they, are they bad?

Can't really tell about the sand, but I def see diatoms on your glass on the right side. How old is the tank? Looks fairly new

7 weeks old, got a bit of a green algae breakout on my rocks and back wall. Making the entire tank look green. Should I limit lights? At moment on for 9-10 hours a day.

Yep, it's unfortunate but true. Watch your lighting schedule and nutrient import/export during this phase to having to correct them later. A lot of the stuff you do now will be cumulative in terms of net later affect. And yes, that is the voice of been there, done that experience. LOL

Reduce lighting to 8 hours? Don't dose anything at moment, do weekly water change of 25%
