Different clowns

I have a pair of Fals Percs and getting a rbta. i wanted to get another set of clowns. Which species would be good to put with them if any? Thanks

I'd get something comparatively mild mannered. Perhaps Skunks or B&W Ocellaris. Keep in mind it may not work out and you may have to separate them. In my experience having a nem hosting each pair and putting them on opposite sides of the tank works reasonably well.

You can mix depending on tank size / individual tolerances etc. Don't believe everything you read :)

I would hate to have to seperate later. I think that I will take the safe road and stay away. Thank you all for replying.

Totally agree i wouldn't mix... But if you wanted to add to the tank you could add the same types... I have kept up to 28 clowns in a 125 gallon before... and had very minimal issues.

As big as your tank is i would say yes, but sometimes they can get territorial, but if their still younger you should have no issues. Especially if you have another anemone or are going to add one. fo rthe new guys to host... Good luck!

Personally I am not a fan of having more then 2 clown in a tank, even the same species -- it make work short term (( year or 2 )), but thing have the way of changing when/if the main pair starts spawning. Even "peaceful" clowns will become aggressive once they start spawning.

Depending on the actual clowns you may get away with it or you may not. I put two Orange and two Black Ocellaris in a tank the same size as yours. The larger black paired with the larger orange and turned on the other black which had to be removed. They have tolerated the smaller orange occy for about 18 months now. There is about 250kg of live rock in the tank with plenty of places to hide but the smaller occy wont leave the other two.

Mine have never even looked twice at my anemone so adding two anemones may not work if they choose not to take up residence in an anemone.

One thing that I have learnt is that fish do have individual personalities and sometimes you do get lucky. If you do choose to do it then stick with relatively non aggressive species and accept that you may have to remove a pair at some stage.

Personally I don't mix clowns, but that is not to say it wont work for you.

If they are the same breed or not makes little difference. Temperament is key here. You can have one pair that is very calm and the next may be brutal. Clowns are very individual in their behavior as most fish are. There is a large variance in temperaments. As long as you don't try something like Maroon's and Ocellaris of course...
