dinoflagellates?

Good morning everyone,

Over the last few months I have been getting this mucus like growth on my live rock on the surfaces that get direct light. I siphon if off and have been doing a 10% water change weekly but I have seen no improvement. It is grayish brown in color with bubbles (I assume oxygen) during the brightest part of the day. The tank gets no direct light from any windows, just LEDs (80% blues and violets, 45% white, 20% green, red, and UV). My nitrates and Phosphates have read 0.0 ppm. Other parameters are good: pH 8.0, Alk 7.7, mg 1170 ppm.

Can anyone ID the growth and any recommendations for controlling it?

Much appreciated!

I got some better photos. Hopefully these will help. The tank is 18 months old but we moved almost 8 months ago though the problem started before the move.

Any chance you use scented candles/sprays,etc.. in close proximity to the tank?

It looks almost like a sponge or more so irregular bacterial growth..

mcgyvr - no scented candles or anything like that have been used by the tank - at least that I know of.

Shamous - it is very slimy. It has the consistency of mucous.

Had a lot of that in my tank a while back. I think definitely some sort of weird bacteria growth. Added some bacteria boosters, including Vibrant and it was cleaned up very quickly.
