dipping corals

Cold someone please fill me in on what benifits you get from dipping coral. When should you do it, how, and on what types.

Sometimes a freshwater dip is useful in ridding the coral of unwanted parasites/pests. If the coral has receding tissue or brown jelly, sometimes an iodine dip is helpful. As for the procedures on each, it should be fairly easy to find either on RC or google.
