Directly in front of return recommendations ?

Looking for something that can sit high in the tank that will get a tremendous amount of light and that will be getting blasted from the returns at 500gph 24/7. My tank is mainly sps/lps.

Thanks.

I'm also interested in this too. FWIW I have a Valida that gets blasted by my 250W halides and it seems to be doing well. It's only about 3" below the surface and directly under a lamp. But it isn't getting hit with direct strong current. OTOH I have a millie that is about 10" below the surface but getting blown hard by a closed loop outlet and it is growing and looking good. And with the relatively large polyps on the millie, I thought it might be a problem. Doesn't seem to be though.

I think that a lot of sps can handle these conditions in general. I've seen a few TOTM pictures with sps practically growing out of the water's surface right under the halides...

Yeah, where my return is located it is one of the spots in the tank that is just begging for something attractive. I know whatever I put there I am going to have to glue down to keep it there so I would like to get it right the first time. Blue Tort?

GSP?

I would avoid noxious corals in this area. IME, the flow can blow allelopathic chemicals directly from the source coral to it's neighbors.

Not sure what else besides gorgonians can handle constant laminar flow. And not sure how noxious they are relative to SPS.

Wow, I guess that doesn't help much, does it?
