Disappearing coraline

Since the 2nd shipment and addition of critters I have noticed my purple coraline disappearing and turning white mainly on the rock from the first shipment. Is there something doing this and should I be alarmed?

Coraline tends to spead more if dose some sort of calcium.

A change in lighting is a very likely cause; if it is the coraline will recover.

if you are talking about turning white i would say its just bleaching because of a lighting change or fluctuation of parameters. if its turning to rock its probably an urchin. i got at least three as hitchhikers on my second half and they are doing a number on my coraline. i drip kalk every night to keep my calcium and alkalinity next to perfect so my croaline spreads right back very fast. i will be taking the yrchins to the LFS once they get big enough to get some money for

I second that advice on the urchins. Mine multiplied like tribbles and they were scouring the rock clean before I removed them! I hated to do it, because when they get big their spines turn this beautiful shade of purple. A lot of them hide during the day. so check at night to see if they are eating your algae.
