Discosoma sanctithomae with Open Mouth, Anything I Can Do?

Meat Popsicle
I just received a Discosoma sanctithomae from an online vendor and I don't think it handled shipping well. It was well packed and arrived on time, but had an open mouth and was leaking/expelling mesenterial filaments. Is there anything that I can do to help this polyp recover or is it a lost cause?

I really hope it makes it as its a beautiful polyp. I acclimated it slowly, but its not really looking better. :( It was not attached to any rock so I currently have it at the bottom of my tank in a shallow tub of live rock rubble so it can attach to a piece.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, they seem to take moving badly, whenever I whack mine on accident or relocate them they spit out their guts and look terrible. One of mine detached from it's rock, got attacked by my clown and then rested on the heater for a few days, it looked really rough and falling apart but pulled through so they must be pretty hardy.

Thanks for the reply. I hope you are right. Its mouth is still open, but it doesn't seem to be expelling anything anymore so I guess that's an improvement. I've had mushrooms of various sorts open their mouths for a while, but never like this.

they are really sensitive. they just complain alot.. they are actually pretty resilient.
You will see that if you ever touch them accidentally or a hermit crab walks over them they spew out thier guts and get all DRAMATIC. but really, itll most likely be fine!
If you could post some pics that would be cool because the sanctithomae come in alot of different colors and variations!

Thanks for the reply. I'm glad that is the case. It seems to be doing better, but still hasn't attached to a rock. I take terrible photos, but as soon as it attaches and I place it I'll try to take a photo and post it.

BTW dragonette, love your signature line. :) /chown -r us ./coral
