Disease or Parasite?

Hello everyone, fairly new to the forums but have had an established reef for about 2.5 years now.

March 17th I bought an Achilles from a trusted LFS and quarantined him for 2 weeks. He was eating the day I bought him and have had no issues in that aspect. He regularly consumes Mysis, Nori and ROE my corals miss. My QT does not use any copper and I perform regular WC in it each time I do my DT. After moving him to my DT he started appearing stressed at points and has patches of black spots on his skin. These do not look spread out like Black Ich does, many small spots localized in some areas. These patches have slowly grown larger over the last few weeks but not the individual spots themselves. None of the other tank inhabitants show any signs of it. The attached picture you can see the spots near his dorsal fin and in the grey area on his belly.

The Tang has been approaching some of the hermit crabs as if he is expecting to be cleaned which makes me think it is some type of parasite. He also does this same behavior with my Mandrin which is pretty funny to watch. I have ordered some Scarlet Skunks that should be here Thursday. He does rub against some of the rocks but otherwise displays normal swimming and breathing patterns.

I tested my nitrates and ammonia and found my nitrates to be a little high at 8-9 ppm. I've never had serious problems with this because I keep ontop of my maintenance. Nonetheless, I conducted a 40% WC removing most of my rock and cleaning the sandbed very well. My nitrates are down to 3-4ppm.

Nitrates 4ppm
SG 1.024
dKH 10.5
Ca 440
Mg 1320
Ammonia 0

Have I missed anything?

Thanks!

Two weeks quarantine is insufficient. I rerommend tank transfer followed by 4 weeks observation. Picture is not definitive. Cleaner shrimp probably will not help.

The LFS quarantines for 4 weeks and he was in their DT for 2 weeks. They do not focus on fish/coral sales but are a high end custom tank builders. None of their systems use copper and he was eating well prior to my purchase. I have not had any illnesses with any fish bought from them.

None the less, I agree with your tank transfer. He is back in my QT now.
