Is it ok to use Distilled water for top off for a few weeks? I have been using the AP Tap Water Filter, and my carterage is used up, right now I hve no job :(, so it would be cheaper to just but a few gallons of distilled water for like .60, and use those for top-off and hold off on the water change till I can get a new cartridge.

Be careful what brand you use though. I use the stuff from wally world with the blue label ~ always tests out @ 0 TDS.

Some brands may use copper coils in the distillation process.

Should be good.

Most companies will use the copper coils in the condenser, IMO. But it won't have a ridiculous amount of copper in it.. at most 1-5 ppm which won't kill/harm invertebrates, IIRC

I use distilled water from Walmart for my water changes and top off. It was cheaper than buying the catridges. I have a fish only tank though.

If theres copper in it will it show up on the TDS meter? Or will it still be 0?

It should as it is a dissolved solid.. meaning it would show up in a total dissolved solid test.
