DIY Bubble plate holes

What are the hole sizes for a bubble plate? This is bubble plate will be for a DIY skimmer 10" body with a 8" bubble plate and 6" neck diameter. Total height 28" and the skimmer will be powered by a laguna 1500 (DIY red dragon).

I don't know the exact diameter for you to use, however I have noticed that many of the nicer skimmer bubble plates have chamfered holes incorporated in their design. Just thought I'd through that in the mix for you.

I was going to countersink the holes which also plays into how large the holes need to be, cause that tells me how many holes I can have.

200 1/4" holes will do you just fine.............that would be per mavgi....

so whats the ratio of total hole area to LPM or GPM? and is 1/4" the recommended size hole or does that change?

Does the pump you use play a role in the size holes you need?

i would say yes it does play a role........for how many and what size i remember reading somewhere atb uses a size close to 5/16th but they use metric i don't remember the exact mm size...i was told on my lugauna 5000 motor on a 8"bubble plate to use 200 1/4" i did'nt ask any questions and just rolled with it.......works great........you can always do less test the pump and drill more if you are not satisfied.....but be carefull because the more you go the more turbulence you get and defeat the purpose of it.......

also i really have my pump restricted with a 1/2" inlet your body size is much larger i would try the 200 it should be a good starting point......i have not modded the 1500 yet im not sure how much stronger my 5000 is than yours but by the sounds of it i don't really think you need one.......your body should be able to handle it no problem........i was told if you can get away with out it don't use it......it hurt's the performance of the pump.......
