DIY - Can you turn a Skilter in a Refug?

I have an old Skilter on my 46 gallon tank that I am using only for water movement now that I have an Aqua C Remora skimmer. I don't have room for a sump so I am trying to customize everything so that it hangs on the back of the tank. I would like to add a Refugium to my tank and I was thinking that maybe the skilter could be customized for this purpose. Has anyone ever done this? Any pointers or suggestions would be great! Thanks.

i would say probly not, there would not be much room for live sand and live rock or any spegettie alge for pod hatching not to metion the plumbing needed to run it

I am a newbie, what is the exact purpose of the refuge? Thanks for the info!

Copepods live and breed there away from predation.
Also contains macroalgea that uses up nutrients so that nuissance algea won't grow in the main display.
