DIY canopy ????

Last night I started my DIY canopy. I finished it up the sermoning and installed the PFO MH 175w retro kit. I left a small space between the lights reflector and the wood. ( I used two washers). The thing I'm not sure about is heat on the wood. It been up and run for about a hour and there's very little heat on the topside of the wood but there is still some. Is this something I need to worry about or not. The back is open but that's it.

I bolt reflectors right to the wood on canopies.

I bolted my PFO reflectors right to the wood. I have 2 fans in the back that blow under the bulbs. I have not had any issues and mine is stained.
