Diy fish traps

Hello

Can anyone help with any plans for a fish trap, they are pretty pricey to buy.

Need to catch a bi colour blenny who has took a fancy to my sps.

Cut the top off a 2 ltr coke bottle and turn it around and glue back to the main body.

I made the bottle trap from a Smart Water bottle. I'm trying to catch a firefish that is hiding under a rock. Just took a peak and after lights out and it was filled with bristle worms...and a few snails. I popped the top off so the snails could escape.

Here's a pic a few minutes after I popped the top off.

I have a ton obviously but they creep me out too much to try to remove them. [emoji13][emoji79]

I used a water bottle for a fairy wrasse worked great!

That is really cheap. But it works only with fish that can squeeze through the bottleneck. What about bigger samples?

I guess you could cut off the bottleneck to make the opening bigger. On the other hand, I don't know if it'll work at all after that. Haven't tried myself.

How do you stop the plastic bottle from floating?

Put a frag plug in it or a little chunk of rock. It really doesn't take much to keep it from floating if it's not near a powerhead.

Throw a little substrate in the bottle, it'll hold it down.
