DIY live rock

Anyone have experience with making DIY live rock? I made some, but I haven't put it in my tank yet. I am worried about a Ph increase.

Like most rock I would soak it in water for weeks/months and let it leech out whatever is in there. Test for stuff like phosphates and silicate until you feel confident

I have had them soaking for about 2 month. I have been changing the water about once a week. The last 2 water changes the Ph goes from about 7.8 To 8.5 in the weeks time. So the rock is still leeching something. I never thought about testing for the phosphate and silicate. I have a phosphate test but not a silicate test. I can probably get one from Amazon.
