DIY Plumbing Repair Options?

Hi Y’all,

Was out of the game for a few years. Got back in about a year ago with a WB 35.1 and have already found that I need more space. Recently found a sweet deal on a re-sealed Reefer 350, but some plumbing got damaged in the move (photo attached). The pipe on the left has a crack all the way down through the thread…the one on the right seems to have a straight crack down, but I can’t be sure if that’s just a seam…thought I don’t think PVC has a seam. Love to get the forums thoughts on the best way to fix this myself. Note, I have limited plumbing knowledge.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Russell and welcome back. I tend to be overly cautious so, if this was my tank, I’d remove and replace the bulkheads and plumbing completely.

Thanks griss. In doing some further online research, I found that red sea has replacement parts for these pipes at reasonable prices…simply unscrew the existing pipe and screw in the replacement…easy peasy! I think I’ll leave the bulkheads since they don’t appear to be damaged, and just replace the pipes. Very limited experience with plumbing so this is a relief!

If the new pipe screws just screws into the bulkhead, you may consider some wraps of pumping tape to ensure a tight seal. Of course, test with some water afterwards, let it sit for a day.

Then you can do your fill test.

Best luck, enjoy.
