Im new to the hobby. First off everyone has been very helpfull. Can someone tell me what a refugium is?. Also I seen one built from a aqua clear filter. Does anyone know If I should do this with my aqia clear I have. Im thinking of doing a 10 gallon nano. I see them where you can put the heaters in them. Please let me know. If i would need it or is it a good thing to have

Thanks

A refugium is a place were you "store" macro algea. Macro algea is good as it "eats" nitrates and improves your water quality. Depending on how you do it, it will also provide more water volume. I have a 20 gallon refug on my 5 gallon Nano. This gives me nearly 22 gallons of water volume with a display tank of 5.

being new to this hobby i would strongly suggest maybe starting with a 55. It is more money up front but it requires less dedication and monitoring on your part. Nano's are generally for the expierenced salt water hobbyist

Im getting a 55 together also. Its the reefready one. My riend whos been doing saltwater for about 10 years is going to help me. I was also thinking of the nano to be displayed in my office
