Do all of you quartine first

Do you have unprotected sex with prostitutes?

I quarantine everything..... have you ever seen the outbreaks
of flatworms, algea, hydroids, parasites, diseases, etc. in distributors, wholesalers, and fishstores? or even worse, some of the personal tanks of people I know.

my understanding is that the Dip doesn't get the eggs, so you dip, QT, wait for the eggs to hatch, and dip again, I haven't bought any acros yet, so I haven't bothered to memorize the exact times involved yet :)

I quarantined my fish but I didn't quarantine snails or corals. Now I have aiptasia (hitchhiked on snails -- attached to a turbo shell) and sundial snails (zoo carnivore, hitchhiked on zoos).

Do you have unprotected sex with prostitutes?

Interesting analogy. You must have done well on your SAT.

I suppose if a man's peni$ was prone to falling off when he introduced new fish then every man would quarantine.

Now, since I don't think that is going to happen, it may be more well suited to use a different analogy.

Just a thought.

Quarantining is good.

If it's hitchhikers your're worried about there are products you can dip the corals in that will flush out most critters.

i acclimate to temp for 1/2 hour, to water for another half hour, see hoe its doing then i place im in a good spot, sometimes more depending on what, and fro mwhere

150 de will be fine. If you want to use even a PC fixture you can raise the coral up in the 29 with eggcrate and some legs, like a frag stand.

A friend of mine was not QT'ing his frags and now he has Red Bugs in his display. He is now in the process of getting rid of them. He said he will be QT'ing frags from now on.

I learned my lesson the hard way, I will be QTing everything.

Me too.

I havent learned my lesson yet so i dont do it as of now. And i even have a 10g Qt up and running. Problem is there is a lifer swimming in the tank. (fish i dont want in the main now hes in jail for life)

For those that do quarantine their corals, has anyone ever caught something they're glad they didn't introduce into the display? If so, what was it and how did you deal with it? I don't quarantine corals myself but I may start to because I've read too many stories of how people have learned the hard way.

I only get corals from local reefers, so I can see the tanks first. I then Dip using Interceptor, and Levamisole HCL. That pretty much kills everything.

Everytime I try to use a QT tank, everything in it dies. Theyre just nowhere near as stable as my reef.
