You hear all about stealth pros exploding and overheating to the 90s but does the same happen to coolers? Has anyone ever had an overcooled tank that caused any fish or invert deaths?
Do coolers malfunction?

Yes it can happen. Not usually with the same catastrophic results as some of the heater failures. They can fail in the on position and overchill or they can fail and not chill the tank for various reasons. My chiller is positioned on the way out into the garage so I look at the display once or twice a day to verify temp. It's also cut off by the acjr if the tank temp drops to low for whatever reason.
