Do I have a Mantis?

Two days ago I purchased 10 hermits for my tank, they were part of my clean-up crew. The guy at the LFS actually gave me 11. Two days ago, I noticed one of the hermits was missing. I searched around and found his carcass. It was all of the harder parts, and all of the soft tissue was gone. I looked all over and could not find an empty shell. Today I checked and the same thing has happened with another of the crabs. The shells have seemed to dissapear. When I was curing the LR before it went into the tank, I saw what looked like the tail of a shrimp lodged in a hole. I tried to get it out, but it avoided the tweezers. I used a chisel to split the piece of rock into pieces and found no trace of the mantis. I assumed he did not survive and went ahead and put the rock in the tank. I have heard no noises from the tank, so I am not really sure if it is a mantis. Could it be anything else? I have three yellow damsels, 9 red-legged hermits and 3 huge turbo snails. The damsels do not like the hermts at all, they continually blow sand on them to try to drive them away, but I have not seen them nip at them. What do you guys think? This is my first SW tank and it has been up and running for just over a month. If it is a mantis, I would love to catch it and put it in it's own little tank. Thanks for any help.

I've had this happen in my tanks, usually the hermits had died-off due to a lack of food.

If they were getting killed by a mantis you should be able to find their shells that have been "bashed-in". Othewise I would assume it was from natural causes.

Yep, I finally was able to find all of them out and about. Thanks for the answers. They were molting.
