Do I have enough flow?

I'm starting to think I do not. My tank is 300 gallons, 8 feet long. I have two Maxpect Gyres one on either side. The old 150 and the newer 250 model with controller. I have messed with the settings and right now, they alternate gyre's, between 10% and 80% I believe. I'll have to check it out again to be sure.

My return pump is the Fluval SP6. It's split among 6 different returns, and once it hits the tank, isn't really much flow. I've thought about changing the nozzles to eductors to increase the flow a bit.

Tank has about 250 lbs of rock in it, 20 fish, including some big guys. I big Naso, big Fox face, and decent sized blue tang. The corals in there, a leather, and a bunch of frags, (trying to grow the tank in slowly) are mostly LPS. Polyps seem to sway most of the time.

Maybe add a Tunze or Vortech and experiment? I hate that Maxpect doesn't really have customer service or any info out there for recommendations on flow for a tank. I was spoiled with someone like Roger at Tunze for my 180. "Hey Roger, here's the layout...." and he'd give you his opinion.

Anyway, any advice is welcome!

Thanks.

It never hurt to add more flow however if u only keep lps then if they move it's good enough. If you want to add some power head try the reef breeder pump it's reasonable price and the company has great customer service.

I believe there's a formula for flow. I think it's 10 times the amount of gallons. So 300x10

I'm running about 7,000 gallons an hour in my 135 gallon tank. And I think I could probably do more but it's enough. That works out to about 50 times the tanks volume

I'm upgrading to a 225 but a giant overflow box long story it should be about 200 gallon tank and I'm planning on doing just over 10,000 gallons an hour in that one

A few powerheads on the back pointed towards the front glass or a couple more gyres run vertically from corners would give you awesome random flow

I was thinking the same. Sale going on the vortechs right now, was thinking about 2 MP40s with the battery backup. I like the gyres, would be a little cheaper too. Gotta give it some thought.
