Do I have to change to MH

I have a 4-lamp-54W-T5 retro setup on my 75 now and I have plans to remove most of my softies and convert over to mainly SPS.My question several folks at my local LFS have been telling me that I should change to MH for my tank to be successful do I have to change to keep SPS ? I would prefer to keep my T5's but I will change if it is a must ? Thanks for your advice in advance

You atleast need individual reflectors for your T5 lights, but IMO you get better results with MH. You don't have to upgrade, and many people have been succesful with T5.

I bet if you kept the SPS to the top of the aquarium you'd be ok. if you want to put an SPS on the sandbed, might not get great color or growth out of it.
