I have a 70 gallon corner tank and was wondering if I need a sump or if I could just use a skimmer and a canister filter for carbon and gfo it's a 100 gallon per hour flow canister filter
You should be asking questions like this in the Reef Discussion thread as this is for discussion of reef fish.
To answer your question, it depends on if you will be keeping corals or not. Sumps are good for many reasons including; increase water volume(the solution to pollution is dilution), room to hide equipment, increase oxygen levels(water movement through the sump does this, and if you want to you can add a fuge section to keep macro algae and keep a home for pods.
