Do I need an I/O box?

I just got the "full" Apex and really happy with it so far.

I am planning on adding a small water sensor at the top of the tank.
Reason: I don't have a second drain on the tank and in case the drain fails the water level would rise of course. Now when the sensor sensors water it means the water level in the tank is getting to high and then I want the main return pump to shut down and send me an alarm.

Do I need an I/O box for the sensor or can it be connected in another way to the Apex?

Thanks for any input

You could just use a float switch plug your return pump into it. Plug that into your apex and it will let you know when the switch has been switched. You could use a breakout box as well that would turn your return pump off with switched.

If you expect to use multiple floats, then a breakout box (either Neptune or DIY) would be the best solution. If you intend to use just the one float, then you could build a simple cable. You would need a male mini-din8 connector in order to plug into the Apex I/O port.

Thank you guys.
Need only one sensor and the cable solution is the cheapest way to do it.
Just didn't know this was possible

Thanks
