Do I need sand in a tank?

Bane thanks for the links, but I thought deep sand beds were now considered a bad thing?

They talk about mixing clean, dry sand with a 2 part epoxy and creating a solid sand bed that wont go anywhere. It seems like a cool idea to me.

If nothing else I would run a remote deep sand bed if you are still leary.
There are some who hate, And I'm going to go out on a limb and say that most who have a bad opinion of sand beds are either repeating what they heard of have run them incorrectly.

I'm gana side with the experts and the phd's on the dsp issue.

it looks great...but coral line would grow on it and then it would not look like sand anymore...and would be extremely hard to remove..can't quite scrape it.

i plan on running one for my 75 i am having a custom sump.refuge.sand bed all in one..baffled of course but i will let you know how i like it...i have do not have 4 inches of sand in my display just about 1-2inches.

good luck keep us posted on your choice..what part of Canada...last summer we flew into Seattle and were going to drive to Alaska lol and got as far as the Yukon and was running out of days so we mad a U turn and went though the Rockies...glacier and jasper were so nice.

I hear you have to clean barebottom to often so sand is the way to go
