Does any one know how to tell if your pistol shrimp is dead?

I'm assuming yours burrowed and you haven't seen or heard it for a while?
Listen for clicking and look for burrows. If you can find a burrow, put a little shell or something over the entrance to block it. If it's an active burrow, the pistol should move theshell.

His borrows are closing and I tried the shell and ha has not moved it.Its been there for 4 days.

My guess is he's either dead or relocated. How large is the tank? What kind is it? How long have you had it?

It's a 14 gallon biocube and I hhave had him for 3 weeks.He is red and white

That's probably a Randall's pistol. It's most likely dead. You'll want to look into why.
