Do you remove the algae from the tank when using a scraper?

I bought an algae scraper to clean the glass and didn't consider that when I scraped the glass all the algae (diatoms) would enter the water column. Should I remove this or let it stay in the water?

While removal would be the best thats often not easy to achieve or possible..
I've never put the extra effort into that when just scraping the glass..

There's no need and would be a difficult task anyway. Some will be eaten as free food and the rest should be filtered out or broken down in other ways
