Does anyone have a Steve Elias blue stag?

I picked a frag last month. It was a beautiful, bright robin's-egg blue at the very tip of the tallest branch, but drab green elsewhere. It has been coloring up nicely, but has very, very little PE, and I was wondering if this was normal.

It's in a very high flow spot - about 9" in front of an MP-10, and I'm not too sure it likes it, but it'll be a pretty big hassle to move it so I'm waiting.

On a side note, in the process of getting it home and into the tank, the very tip, the prettiest 1/8" of the whole thing, got broken off. I was so mad, but I glued it to a piece of rubble and it's beginning to encrust a little.

Here's a pic I took about a month ago when I first got it. I'll post a new pic in a day or so to show what it has or hasn't done ...

i just got a frag a couple weeks ago (not as big as yours though) and there is some polyp extension, but very very minimal.

Same boat here. I got my frag back in January and while the coral color is great the polyps are barely visible. Maybe it is a VSPS coral, as in very small.

It's very sensitive to lighting and water quality.

I have a huge chunk of it in my main tank. It is tan with pretty intense lavendar tips under natural sunlight (solar tubes).

In my frag tank under 14k MH with no actinics, it will vary from tan to green with bright robins egg blue tips. The blue will extend partway down the branch and the coralites will be dark green.

I'm messing around with mine sense it looks just like shadowramys photo. So far I've placed a frag about 8" lower than the rest of the coral and it's turned all blue with green polyps. So maybe try less light.

Well I just moved the frag laterally, out of the path of the vortech but still up at the top, right under the T5's. Algae was trying to grow at the broken-off tip.

Just have to wait and see, now.

Unlike everyone else apparently, I placed mine at the very bottom of my tank, literally 42" from my light source (400W 14K MHs) and it loves it there! Here is a recent shot of it actually encrusting my barebottom. I have another colony at about midtank and it looks virtually identical in terms of both color and form.

Sorry for the delay. Finally took some pics this weekend.

Steve Elias stag under natural sunlight. Tips did not photograph as bright as they look in person. But, coral is still brown. In the frag tank (14k MH, no actinics), they look like 64Ivy's pic after 3-4 weeks.
