I got a 30 pound bag of sand, used 22 pounds of it, sold the other 8 to a buddy.
I started with the clown, they are a good starter fish, not as delicate as others. They can tolerate your learning mistakes (Not major learning mistakes but little issues like keeping your salinity in check).
I hate my clown and I would avoid whatever it is if I were to do it again. He killed a firefish and really is working over my Blue Assesor. Luckily I have a new tank setup for the Assesor so this week he is getting moved.
I'd start with an Ocellaris Clownfish.
After I had the clown for a month I decided to add the Firefish & Yellow Watchman Goby at the same time. For a couple months everything was great but all of a sudden my clown went nuts and every time he saw the firefish he would beat him up and chase him back into the rock. It took weeks before I could finally rescue the firefish and put him in QT, he died later that night, he was skinny from not eating.
The YWG is great, mine eats mysis out of a turkey baster. Very cool little guy.
A few weeks after the firefish died I added the pseudochromis and the Assesor. Both are peaceful and great looking. No complaints about these guys.
The Neon Goby was the last fish added.
It's all about adding a fish, letting things stabalize then adding more if you can.
