Does anyone know what FC2 base refers to?

This question is in reference to a 250-W HQI metal halide. I seen a call-out stating it was an FC2 based lamp. Can anyone elaborate on this?

Fc2 is the standard type of base for double-ended metal halide lamps 250-watts and above.
