Yes any diamond coated bit will cut glass. Just be careful and work slowly. Let the bit cut away the glass with very little pressure and don't force the tool into the work. As they say, "Let the tool do the work."
Defiantly cool the tool or your tank can crack. I used the bit in the past and for cooling I made a damn out of putty around the area to be cut and dripped water into the damn.
