does dying macro cause ammonia or nitrite spike

Picked up a lot of rocks w/a bunch of bubble and other macro algae. placed it in my sump w/little to no light. was wondering if the dying macro will cause undesired ammonia or nitrite or anything else spike.

Anything that dies can cause the levels to rise, I would scrub off the algae with a brush and rinse the heck out of it.
