Does the Oceanic 58g have a center brace?

Thinking about the 58g for my next tank and trying to decide between one 250MH (no brace) and 2x175W MH (has brace).

Thanks!
Aaron

no brace on the oceanic 58. fantastic tank. though consider the 2x175 still, i personally like light coming from as many directions as possible, fewer shadows. especially if you are doing sps.

Hey Jamie,

The Oceanic 58g is 36x18x21. I was hoping to find a MH/PC/t5 combo to get the duck to dawn effect. The Aquamedia linked above is one of the few 36" fixtures that has 2xMH and the supplimental lighting.

I had an Oceanic 58g tank and really loved it...I was surprised when I looked at a new Oceanic 58g the other day....the glass looked to be an 1/8" thinner than it used to be.

I have a 58 I have been running for 3 years love the tank originally went with 1X175. then i bought a 400w 20k over kill i have been told which might be true great growth and great color but should have gone with the 2 X 250. that would have been perfect. The 1 X 175 are nice but i found having to keep some of my sps to high which i guess is fine but i my buddy set up a 58 with 2 x 250 and was able to keep the corals down in the tank to give them more room to grow upwards. if i can i will get a pic post it for you. the heat isn't that bad he has fans on both hoods. Though if you were in a small room or one that doesn't get a lot of ventalation then you might have a heat problem.

what are you planning on doing in the way of corals? That would help you a great deal i made that mistake and just started when i should have researched more i have spent a lot of cash on stuff i don't even need.

Well, I have a mised reef now. A 20g lit by a 4x24W Tek light. I'd like to move all of the zoas and soft corals into the 20g with the T5 lighting, and then have the new 58g be lit by MH and be primarily sps and lps, stuff like acro's monit's, chalices, acans, etc.

I guess I'm debating between the 2x150W setup and the 1x250W setup. It's going to be in a smaller room, so heat (and of course electricity) is a concern. That's the main thing that's kept me away from MH all this time. But I do think the sps especially look much better than under my T5's. Everything now seems to be a little brown, or purple with blue tips. I know a lot of the current corals I have can get some more color, even though they're kept up high now.

Aaron, one 250 SE with a PFO optimal parrallel reflector will cover quite nicely, and put a decent hot spot over the middle.
