Does this frogspawn have a chance?

On 10/6/05 I got a small frogspawn frag that looked like this. For scale, the LR rubble it's mounted on is about 1.5" in diameter.

I placed it on the aquascape without fixing it properly, and it was constantly being knocked over. It suffered from this and on 5/10/06 it looked like this due to some die-off of polyps.

I finally mounted it to the aquascape so as to avoid having it knocked over any more, and as of a week ago here's all that's left of it.

What's alive looks quite healthy, and I wonder if I was too late in giving it a more permanent location in the tank. I realize that moving it around was not good for the coral, and I won't make that mistake again, but I'm wondering if it has any chance of re-growing with so much tissue loss? Anything else I should do other than provide good water quality, food, light, etc?

I have seen some come back from that bad off. If it still has its mouth, I would target feed it as much as possible. Other than that, providing it a good environment is all you can do.

Good Luck,

Andy

I think the mouth is history so target feeding isn't an option. Will it regrow a mouth? Thanks for everyone's help. I never give up on a coral.

what a shame....sad.....hope he makes it....good luck
well that's not at all encouraging

Keep it out of direct flow to prevent it from falling off the skeleton. The only thing you can do at this point is maintain your water quality and calcium levels so it can rebuild its skeleton.

OK, I'll do that. Like I said, I never give up on a coral ... except the tiny mille frag I got rid of that was completely overtaken by AEFW.

I have one that is doing the same thing. It was doing good then I put in a new powerhead and I think I gave it to much flow. Has anyone ever heard of this happening from too much flow? I have two in my tank and the other is doing fine.
