Im new to salt water and have never seen this does this popping up happen often would this be a good mother to propagate off of?

i think they are just a different species of zoa. that is why they pop up like that.

Yep, The large polyps are palythoa button polyps and the others are zoanthids (you have two types of zoanthids as well).

If you are interested in fragging the colony you can place rubble rocks next to the base of a few polyps so they will grow onto the rock.

If you cut the polyps they are likely to die so if you try to frag them by scraping a razor or knife under them, be careful as well because they are toxic. If you frag them with a razor try to get a thin layer of rock underneath of them and then superglue the frag to another rock, also dont get glue on the actual polyps, kinda hard to explain, you can go on zoaid.com and they have a step by step method on propogating zoas.
