Does your yellow tang nip at other fish?

I was thinking of getting one but I'm so worried that it'll nip at my clowns or goby. I just had to get rid of a nipping fish (goldflake angel) that destroyed the dorsal fins on my clowns. So I'm a little hesitant about getting anything. I want a tang that is super peaceful. Please help.

mine leaves all my others fishes alone BUT will harass any new tangs to death.

My Yellow Tang is very peaceful.. he hangs out with my Magnificent Foxface and Flame Angel all day. Doesn't touch my clowns.

Thanks for the feedback. My LFS told me that a powder blue tang is mean so that's why I asked about the yellow tang. Is the powder blue tang really aggressive? Sure is a beautiful fish. Does it nip at other fish (non-tangs)? Thanks

This is funny.. my Kole Tang "kisses" the body of other fishes in my tank.. once the algae on the front glass is clean, he will then start "cleaning" other fish

I have had both my tangs for about three months and no issues thus far, look at avatar-

So it sounds like tangs in general are peaceful fish and they won't harm my clowns (like nipping at their fins). That's a relief. I always wanted a powder blue tang but because I was told they are "mean" I stayed away from them. I don't think I want to go through watching my clowns have their fins nipped everytime a tang is hungry.

BTW, what kind of fish is that in your avatar falconut? Sure is beautiful.

I had a yellow tang that liked to eat diadema urchin spines....never touched a fish though.

My Purple Tang behaves very smilar to my Yellow Tang used to, and I know it now and then mistakes the fins of my Lawnmower Blenny for seaveggies...

Tangs do NOT nip at anemones will not even come near it if u have a clownfish hosting it.

Tangs are pretty peacefull to others.. They will go at each other if they are similar body shape. Mine chased my Coral Beauty for a few days but now they are good. My Yellow Tang gets along with everyone. Unless the Damsel or Goby decide to take a nip at one of my Percs then the tang opens up a can of whupa$% Not sure why he's so protective of them.
