Dogface puffer habitat

Does anyone have a Dogface puffer?

What type of set-up is ideal for them? (size of aquarium? LR? Other inhabitants?)

I really want to learn more about them from people with experience keeping them, thanks!

I have a porcupine, but I have found that puffers really like more space than people think. They are not fish that like to hide.
I would highly recommend a 180 or bigger for an adult dogface.

Ok thats good to keep in mind, Maybe eventually I'll be able to set-up a big FO tank for something like that.

How big can they get?

I have a dogface in a 210. I would think that would be the minimum for adult size, depending on tank mates. Be sure to have a large skimmer and good water movement.

Mine seems to like having sand too. He does this thing where he "blows" in the sand looking for bristle worms or whatever else he can find. It's comical to watch.

I'm not sure of the full adult size (14"+?), someone else may be able to give that.

Adult size is 13" (fishbase) but usually smaller in aquariums. I have seen a lot of adults stay about 10"-11"

IMO a 120G is fine as long as its not overstocked and you can keep water quality up.

do dogfish eat small fish? could you keep them with damsels or a school of smaller fish like chromis?

Not likely to eat smaller fish but its a possibility as they get older.
