dosing calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium

I use BRS 2-part (+Mg) with a Bubble Magus doser. Best way to keep a heavily stocked (SPS / Clam) nano stable for the long haul. I've noticed over the years that my nano is susceptible to unbalanced swings in Ca/Alk (as opposed to a linear relationship like you would expect) and so being able to control Ca/Alk separate is a huge advantage over running something like kalk or a reactor.

I've found the same. because of this thread I tested my Calcium and it was down to 400. which isn't terrible but I like to keep it between 420 and 450. so instead of my usual dose I had to add 3.5oz to get it back inline.

wonder why that is?

had your alk dropped some too? I know randy has done a lot of explaining on how the relationship can sway some but I can't explain it! :-)

I was hoping you would post in this thread. I have a few questions for you if that's cool.

1. how man liters of the BRS two part are you dosing a day? I switched to the BRS just recently and am curious. Ive seen your tank many times and would love to know what your requirements are.

2.I have noticed with the BRS alk that is seems to precipitate or kind of coagulate upon hitting the water. The reef fusion alk didn't seem to do this. Does this happen for you and is it really a problem or does it eventually dissolve back into the tank water? It seems I have had a tougher time keeping my alk stable since switching to the BRS. I emailed BRS and they never responded to me.

3. Last question, I know you have the JBJ as well. Which part of the tank are you dosing to, the back chambers and if so which ones? I am dosing to two the two far back return chambers, one on each side. Perhaps the flow here is not good enough?

Thanks!

dont really test alk. i use two buffers with my RO/DI that are supposed to maintain alk. did order a new test so will check it out but have had very positive coral growth.
