Dosing container options

I've been dosing Red Sea NoPoX for a while now. With great results. I would like it to be automated. So I thought I would get a Jebao 2 channel dozer and a couple reservoirs.

I'm only dosing 1ml a day. 1.5 liter containers are a bit large. Any other options out there? Is there any diy ideas for a smaller container? Also concerned about evaporation of the NOPoX in a container that's too large.

It's for an IM Lagoon 50. Space isn't too big of a deal.

I simply use plastic water bottles... Poke a hole in the cap and stick the tube in...add a small vent hole too...

So just drill a hole in the NoPoX container and a vent hole? What about evaporation through the vent hole? Is that a concern with this stuff?

Pretty sure he said plastic water bottles, not the NoPox container. Yup just read it again. A very small vent hole, amount 1/8 inch or smaller will not create any noticeable evaporation.

I was confirming his solution with a cheaper and safer solution of my own. Thank you mcgyvr for the idea!!

BTW you can't use a regular water bottle with NoPoX as it would melt through it because it's not HDPE plastic.

Also since it's a methanol based liquid it will evaporate very easily. Hence the second question, should I be concerned.? Guess I'll just add a small one way check valve in the vent hole. Then I can reuse the lid when I have to buy another bottle.

Again thank you for the input.

I don't dose NoPox but do make my own 70/30 vinegar/vodka for carbon dosing and mix 2 liters at a time and put in an open container and dose with a BRS 2.0 dosing pump and don't see an evaporation problem. I dose about 42 ml/day.

Thanks for the input. I guess my thought was it's a 500ml bottle and I'm dosing 1ml per day. Thats 500 days worth of use and 500 days of possible evaporation. Honestly the bottles only good for 365 days haha. Maybe I'm just overthinking it as usual.

It wont melt through... And evap is not a problem with a tiny vent hole...like pin hole

I dose NoPoX via my Neptune DOS. My dosing line is connected to a rigid black irrigation riser with silicon sealing the outside of screw-in riser connection to the Neptune dosing line to make it airtight. I simply drilled a hole in the NoPoX bottle lid itself and pushed my rigid riser through it - made the hole a very tight fit. I didn’t bother with a separate vent as even though the riser is a tight fit, it won’t be airtight and air will make its way in as the air pressure drops in the container. If I see the container bowing in I will simply drill a tiny air hole in the lid, 1/32 should be sufficient and limit any evaporation.

Pretty much whatever liquid holding container you want to use that fits your aesthetic and size.

I use big 4litre vinegar bottles because I had a bunch kicking around.
