There are not any good stores; however there is a pet store that stocks a few fish, corals and a lot of hair algae. I try to buy some things there like salt. I bought my live sand there it was only $18.00 for a 20lbs bag. I needed some silicone the other day and he wanted $9.00 for a 3oz tube and a 10oz tube of black is $10 online. I don’t mind paying a little extra to support a local business, but I’m not going to get hosed either.
There is a store large store in Montgomery that is ok. I say ok because the tanks are not the cleanest. They do have a good selection of everything. The owner has always been nice and helpful, but like I say the water quality seems a little low for me.
There a store in Pensacola, Fl that is real good. The water is clean and they are always helpful and have the best selection in my opinion. They are a little high, but it is well worth it to me. They are always helpful and if they tell you something you can believe it.
I don't know of any reef clubs in the area. I do know several people with tanks. Enterprise is about 25 miles west of Dothan. I think an Enterprise/ Dothan club might have a better chance than two different clubs. Both are pretty small towns. I hope to have my new system up soon. I would like to go to the frag swap that is coming up.
What might bring you to Alabama? If you don’t mind me asking... BTW If you need a house or a mortgage when you get herelet me know.
