Hi,

First time reefer here and starting a 12 gallon long as my first tank. I have kept freshwater in the past and have a ton of extra tanks and equipment sitting around. I ordered some of my gear already and am sitting and waiting on the shipping. I will be posting pictures as I get stuff and start putting it all together.

Tank: AQUAMAXX LONG LOW-IRON RIMLESS AQUARIUM - 12 GALLON
HOB Filter: Aqua Clear 70 with filter basket mod
Water: Distilled to start, I need to hook up my RO/DI
TDS Meter: Not sure which I have need to find it and hook it up to the RO/DI
Magnet: Need to order a mag float 30
Powerheads: ECOTECH MARINE VORTECH MP10QD PROPELLER PUMP W/ QUIETDRIVE DRIVER
HYDOR KORALIA NANO CIRCULATION PUMP/POWERHEAD 425GPH
Test Kits: So far Salifert for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and pH. Not sure what else I will need but I read, Calk/Alk/Mag
Sand: need to pick up aragonite medium
Spray Paint: need to grab a can for back of tank depending on how I position it
Light: AQUAMAXX NEMOLIGHT AQUAMARINE 24-36 INCH LED FIXTURE WITH CONTROLLER - 36 WATTS
Hood: none
Crate/Glass Lid: Going to use egg crate to prevent cats from dipping paws.
Heater: Hydor Theo 50 Watt Heater
Food: unknown
Refractometer: MARINE DEPOT AQUARIUM REFRACTOMETER
Salt: Need to decide
Power Strip: Trip to Home Depot
Timer: don't think I need one since lights have it built in
Thermometers: I want two sticker style ones but unsure which
Syphon: need to pick one up
Tongs: Do I need these?
Gloves: Do I need these?
Dry rock/Live rock seed: Will pick some up after I get the tank
Log book: need to order one
ATO: Still deciding
CUC: no clue what to get but have time
Fish: Not sure if I will have any
Corals: Need to research
Skimmer: Hopefully I can run without one

I'll take pictures as soon as stuff starts arriving and update on this thread. The plan is to get it up and cycling and to really take my time. I may eventually add a fish but would really like to make sure the tank is stable and I am getting coral growth first.

Looking to do softies and LPS.

Let me know how you like that light. I was going to use a razor on my 12g long but if the nemolight can keep sps alive ill go with that and save some money lol

No new information on the tank/pumps shipping.

Still just a departure scan from UPS in California on the 17th.

Also is there a time based cut off for the edit function on posts? I wanted to update my first post based on decision I make.

Took a trip to the LFS to get some supplies. Wonderful store but no dry rock, only live.

So right now I have decided to hook up my RO/DI first instead of starting with distilled water(slow and correct). I bought some PVC parts to tee off a water line and am waiting on a few more, should be all hooked up and making water this week. I practiced by "welding" a line to the tee I am going to use and it worked fine.

Currently I have:

Tank
Lights
MP10
Koralia nano
AC70
filter basket
carbon
instant ocean salt
carib sea live sand
syphon
salifert tests for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and pH
one digital thermometer, ordering one more to account for variances
little baggies for carbon
2 buckets, water changes and ATO(when I get it)
Velcro(affixing things out of the way)
power strip
refractometer
egg crate for the bottom and for the top if needed
