Drilling a bio cube?? is it worth it

Why would you drill it?

Is there some problem you're trying to fix? What are you running in your chambers? Why are you running an overflow box? They already have one built in.

Biocube is a perfect little tank with almost no modifications aside from what you put in each chamber...sounds like you're over thinking it.

If the purpose is just because you like to DIY and tinker...then sell the Biocube and build your own setup from scratch IMO.

So you already decided. Why make a thread?

The only logical place for the drain is the 3rd chamber, at the bottom. Then it's up to you if you want a return over the false wall or back through the back of the 3rd chamber and through the false wall. Anywhere else and you would lose your circulation through the chambers.

I ran a BC14 for years with no skimmer or sump. I never kept SPS, but for softies the rear chambers provide all the filtration and nutrient export you need.

Good luck!

Drill it!

Drill it!

Although it's not nessessary you can drill your biocube. I have a 1" bulkhead on the bottom of chamber 3 and the return coming up from chamber 2. I chose to drill it because I wanted more flow and over all more water volume. Now is the biocube a sound AIO yes that being said it does have major flaws and is a great base to start some DIY mods and tinkering. I'll post a pic or two when I get a chance.
