Drilling?

Jallard, just drilled a tank or two. If I remember correctly it turned out pretty well. I wish I had the 00's to drill my 75. I haven't yet drilled one, but I'm told the key is go slow and keep the bit wet.

You can also check out the DIY forum, they give accounts of several different attempts with both drills and Dremmel tools.

yea I drilled 2 tanks, 6 holes 3 in each tank. I didnt think it was that bad. BUT it is a little nerve racking. I used a chitty hole saw bit, but if I were to do it again I would buy a better bit than the one I used. All in all I would do it again.

A couple tips......1- go slow, let the drill bit do the work don't force it, and 2- make a water dam outta plumbers putty. Oh and tape accross the area you are putting the hole in so that the piece of glass dont drop out and crack the other side. :)

It's a piece of cake!!!

I drilled my 120 in about two minutes. As mentioned above the key is to go slow and keep the drill bit wet. It also depends on what size tank you're doing. Smaller tanks are harder to do because the glass is a lot thinner.

Im thinking Im gonna do a 55 but maybe Ill go pick up a 10 to prctice on first where did you guys get the diamond hole saw?

No problem, if you are interested when I drill I'll let you know and you could stop by and see first hand.

yeah I thought about that. hopefully this guy I work with wants to trade his 55RR for some frags I have so I wont have to worry about that
