I tore down a four-month 75g fish tank and replaced the old hand me down tank, with a new 75g tank with a 20 gal sump.
I purchased 80 lbs of Pukani Dry rock and cured it in warm flowing saltwater for five weeks. Once added to the new tank, how long would it take for the cycled Pukani rock to show some form of life? (algae diatoms etc.) Will my hermits and snails from the old DT starve in the new DT?
I have my two clown fish and puffer in a 10g quarantine tank. When should I add my fish back to the MD? If your curious, the puffer will not eat the clowns. He/She loves to be hand fed.
I did keep a couple of pieces cycled rock from the original main. Should I temporarily add a piece of old rock to help seed the tank or does it not matter?
Some helpful info:
Rock curing, 1st week a 100% water change and 50% every week after.
I tore down my pre-existing tank (scratched hand me down tank) and to set up a new 75gal tank.
I reused four gal of the old sand and 20 lbs of new live sand.
Used about 75 lbs of the cured Pukani rock.
