dry rocks leach po4?

just looking at the pdf on the tablet but not seeing mention of LR leaching phosphates into our tanks.

Going to do a new build with dry rock. Do I need to cure to leach out po4 ?

Do you mean cure it to stabilize the ph?
If not, what do you think would be the source of po4 in your rock?
There's lots of ways to make it,so it's hard to say without knowing which you'll use

I think most will over time...

We acid bathed ours and didn't have a GHA for about a year... then it exploded.

Manual removal with the algae mower vac and dosing vodka has got it pretty much gone. Adding more Mexican Turbos soon as well, they eat it like there's no tomorrow...

lol! on my tiny phone "dry" looked like "diy"
haha, I couldn't figure out why you all were so worried. :headwally:

yes, OP, it can leach from being underground in phosy dirt, or water, before you get it. "need" is up to you. there's a lot of threads with opinions about how curing works, and whether it's worth doing.

My lfs sells it looks like brs pukani.

I was going to use it so i wouldnt have any pests and its only 3bucks apound.

Going with a total qt as i have had to deal with aiptasia majony and worse of all bryosis took over 4 zoas and a candy cane coral i tryed tech m last month no luck. Ijjust re moved as much as i could then traded to lfs lol. But stilltook a hit.

I am going to start save for skimmer tank and vortech. Maybe i will just go ahead and get the tank going with just heater and mass gfo for a couple months while i save for buy everything. I have everything for qt maybe i will go ahead and set it up for fish. Will fish beok in high amounts of gfo.

I would soak the rock in bleach for 1 day then dechlorinator for a day. Let the rock dry out in the sun then, I would do a peroxide bath then followed by 1 month soak in rodi water with constant water change. You could attach a skimmer or po4 media if you wish. After all that is done the rock should be really clean and you can start the cycle.

A Muriatic acid bath is probably your best preventative maintenance for Phosphates, IMO.

You just can't assume that dry rock is good to go after you buy it. It's like QT'ing a fish, if you ask me. Otherwise, it's like playing Rush 'n Roulette.
