Drying out live rock

HI guys,

Does anyone ever dry out live rock to kill any pests on it and then use it again?

you can do that but you will need to to get somemore live rock to reseed the dryed out rock.when you dry it out it is going to kill everything on it.imo i would try and find another way to take care of what pest you might have.

But, wouldn't the dead live rock start its own cycle when I put it in the tank?

You could probably start a cycle with the dead rock as more stuff will begin to decay when you put it in water. You won't have any coraline algae or any beneficial pods and what not. If you dry out your rock and use it again I would seed it with a piece or 2 of live rock.
