Yellow's are straight cut. I think they're worthless but if you had to pick one pair, pick the red handled snips if you're a righty, green if you're a lefty. You won't need rivets. For each run, you'll need: 1 take off; 6" flex duct; 18" wire ties; duct tape; 6" damper; and a register which varies on whether it's drop ceiling, rock or open space.
Use the edge of a flat head screwdriver and a hammer to open up a hole in the trunk whenever you've located where you want to head off to. Cut your hole, insert your takeoff and run your flex. The damper is up to you. You can buy a register with a damper built in but they're too noisy for me.
After it's all installed, you'll have to work on balancing your rooms so you don't have one boiling and one freezing. That's when you'll play with your dampers.
